Earlier this year Mallory and her husband, Curtis, went on the TV show “The Biggest Loser,” and lost weight.

After accomplishing her weight loss she obtained certification as a personal trainer. Her husband is in management at a gym. She desires to help the community by sharing better eating and lifestyle choices.

Her advice for those who want to lose weight is, “No matter what you do,  you must incorporate exercise into your lifestyle,” she said. “Be conscious of what you eat, think of food as fuel for your body.”

Women should try to consume between 1,200 and 1,500 calories a day, she said. People should eat five times a day – three meals and two healthy snacks. Get your four or five servings of fruits and vegetables in each day, as well as two carbs and one fat. If you think of your body like a machine, it’s more efficient to keep the machine going (eat regularly) than to let the machine stop and have to restart it (by only eating one or two meals a day), she said.

People should also keep a food journal, to track everything they eat each day, and try to exercise 5 to 6 times per week. The exercise should include cardio and strength training, and mix it up so they don’t get bored.

Mallory will be contributing healthy living tips to the Rancho Life blog.
