Doug Sweeney was born a little more than 70 years ago in Chicago, Illinois. He attended grade school, high school and college in Chicago. He started his career in the retail food business at the young age of 14. He is married and has two children and seven grandchildren. After 51 years in the same business, Doug retired and moved to Southern California where all of his children and grandchildren live. His spare time is spent volunteering as a member of the Citizen’s On Patrol for the Rancho Cucamonga Police Station and as a Marshal/Starter at Upland Hills Golf Course.  He is a very dedicated volunteer and averages 80 hours a month between both positions.  He is the kind of person that always has a smile on his face and brings such joy to everyone.  He is an example of how invaluable volunteers are to our Department.

His grandchildren encouraged him to volunteer as a member of Citizen’s on Patrol. “It is a real pleasure volunteering for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department from the Captain on down, I have never worked with a more dedicated group. They work very hard to keep our Community SAFE,” says Doug.  He also loves all sports and enjoys playing golf several times a week.
