Rancho Cucamonga Couple Volunteers Together to Aid Homebound Seniors

Elmer and Wilma Steeve serve the City of Rancho Cucamonga James L. Brulte Senior Center. By raising funds for the Home Delivered Hot Meal program for homebound seniors. They deliver canned goods) to home bound seniors, decorate the center for holidays and special events and help plan and supervise special events for the senior center. They have been volunteering their time since 1984.
The couple has three daughters, five grandchildren, and nine great-grand children.
“They are the joys of our life,” says Wilma, “We love spending time with the family and helping out the senior center.”
Wilma, 85, is also the current president of the Regional Council on Aging, past president of the Rancho Cucamonga V.I.P. Club and is a caller for the LINK program. She also likes crafts including knitting, crochet and painting. Elmer, 88, likes playing billiards at the senior center and playing baseball and bowling on the Wii.
Both say that the joy that the joy get from these people in the community is immense. They serve the homebound seniors thinking they are doing well. “Actually we walk away feeling like they are the ones that have done more for us then we could every do for them”, said Wilma.

The Steeves say there’s no much about Rancho Cucamonga they don’t like. They love the city and think it’s the best place to live. They also think highly of the council for all the support they give to the community.
The couple says Jack Lam and the council do a great job in keeping Rancho Cucamonga beautiful and it’s one of the best cities around.
“They maintain very high standards and we are very proud to live here.”
