Neurofeedback: Stupefying, Intoxicating, Yet Necessary

Its sometimes called the atmosphere, it's sometimes called oxygen, it's often referred to as air. It's all
around us, or at least it better be for we depend on it to fill our lungs and supply our cells with the precious
element that invigorates and sustains us. Whether or not we think of the air we breathe as in the top ten of
necessities that we cannot live without, there is still another item of need that we accept as ever present
and necessary and vital for the success of our lives should the air supply hold steady and reliable.
This other valued asset has been with mankind since the very first footprints left their mark on earth's soil.
It has been collected and stored up and used to inform us in each and every decision. Every one of our senses
were designed to allow us to gather it up, interpret it and turn it into stories that have sustained us while
we have evolved into the beings that we are today.
When we recognize that it has been built up in others, we do our utmost to get them to share it with us. We convince others to share it with us, and they find their supply is not diminished in the least, in fact their supply of it seems to grow the more they share.
We seek it, gain it, we manipulate it, we store it, we link new supplies of it up with older supplies and it
seems to multiply its effects for and on us. It is so valuable that we build institutions in its honor so that
it can be distributed to others so that they don't have to start from ground zero when seeking it.
It seems to be in infinite supply. It seems inexhaustible. Its depths seem to be unfathomable. It appears to be linked to a higher power, a deity, a god that would be the fountainhead of it. It is available in so many shapes and sizes, odors and aromas, tastes and textures. It spans an array of sounds, harmonics, tones and frequencies.
There is something for everyone - to find pleasure and pain and sorrow and joy and a way to understand every
concept and object that we encounter.
It is at once vital and necessary and crucial and empowering and invigorating. It almost defies comprehension, yet in all its splendor it has the capacity to stupefy, intoxicate and completely overwhelm us with its potential.
"In the beginning was the information and the information was with God and the information was God"
We cannot live without information and with modern technology we have ever greater access to it and its density is growing at such an exponential rate, that we can easily find ourselves in "information overload".
Take a look at the graph to gain an appreciation of its current growth trend. There is no turning back.
In future issues, I will be sharing more detail about how to understand and process it.
